AssetAccountant does not have a dedicated period lock feature within the application itself.
However, when AssetAccountant is integrated with Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or Dynamics 365, the accounting system's period lock or close controls are respected. This means AssetAccountant cannot post depreciation journals into accounting periods that have already been locked in your general ledger (GL). In effect, your integrated accounting system acts as the period lock for AssetAccountant.
Example
If you have successfully posted your final depreciation journal for the financial year ending 30 June 2026 from AssetAccountant and your accounts have been finalised in your integrated accounting system, you can safely lock the accounting period in Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or Dynamics 365.
Once the period is locked in your accounting system, AssetAccountant will be prevented from posting any further journals into that closed period, helping maintain the integrity of your financial records and preventing accidental changes to finalised accounts.
